Faith in Facts

This multidisciplinary video Installation mimics our own memory process and relates to the history and memory of the war in former Yugoslavia.  Our memory process is simulated through the erasure and destruction of an original negative. Throughout  the duration of this exhibition a projected slide deteriorated (in real time) destroyed by the treatment of mould that is endemic to the region of Sarajevo. The application of mold is a metaphor for the destruction of cultural memory.  This work is not simply a struggle against forgetfulness.  Rather, we are trying to present memory as fleeting. The mold disintegrates the photographic image - but the images remain readable: a metaphor for the decay of the former Yugoslavia, as well as the decay of our own memory process.
